This project refers to those moments when we feel different from the rest, observed, out of place, as if we don’t quite fit into the world we inhabit. To explore this (and, in a way, make peace with this feeling), I created this character: a pirate alien. Although she is kind of different from everyone else, she goes on with her life—walks through the city, eats, goes to the supermarket—while navigating between the ordinary and the strange. Sometimes, I feel like her; distant and out of context. This is her life… and, in a way, also mine (and everyone’s).
For this project I wanted to design the outfit myself, these are some of the illustrations I made.
